August 28, 2020 - Patch Notes

Hey all,

We were hard at work on tracking down pain points in the system today and trying to optimize the areas of the site seeing the most traffic (everything around progressing through your studies). We will continue to monitor the systems and performance as well as make more changes as we pinpoint further issues.

System

Performance

  • Made sweeping optimizations on the server for various aspects of the system. We are hoping that this helps to alleviate some of the performance issues currently going on while we work on our more in-depth performance update.Subscriptions
  • Added a way to redeem coupons when subscribing to NativShark.Flashcard Heatmap
  • Fixed an issue where archived cards were being included in the flashcard heatmap, resulting in some rather large numbers for certain users.

Content

Typos / content fixes

  • Fixed typo in English explanation in "Nouns that combine with する" lesson.
  • Fixed typo in English explanation in "The versatility of nouns" lesson.
  • Fixed broken highlighting on the sentence 何名様ですか? in "How to get seated at a restaurant" lesson.
  • Fixed furigana on vocab card 過ぎる. Was よぎる, should be すぎる, which matches with the example sentence.
  • Fixed missing furigana on 助詞, which appears on 助 kanji flashcard.
  • Fixed several missing literals in the sentences of the "Vませんか (recommendation)" lesson.
  • Fixed typo in English explanation in "The "key" to particles" lesson.

New explanations

  • Added a Writer's Note about the usage of あなた in a sentence in the lesson "Vませんか (recommendation)". It's under the sentence "サイクリング、あなたも始めてみませんか。"
  • Added a Writer's Note that briefly talks about using だ and よ after i-adjectives in "Making 'A is B' sentences" lesson.

Audio

  • Fixed misaligned audio in Unit 119 dialogue "A conversation between friends who are walking outside."

Known Issues

  • When starting the next unit (either for the first 21 units or if you have the pace slider disabled), you may have your page refresh to the dashboard rather than immediately going into your next unit. We are investigating fixes for this.
